Administrative and Legal Assistant
Mary O’Dowd brings more than 20 years of experience to her role as Administrative and Legal Assistant.
Mary was born and raised in London, England, where she earned the Royal Society of Arts Degree in Business Management from St. Theresa’s College (now Christ the King College).
Her first job was with Sandoms Solicitors, one of London’s oldest law firms. She quickly rose from Secretary in the Trust & Estates Department to Supervisor, responsible for daily operations of the firm, before relocating to New York in 1986, where she worked for the international law firm of Milbank, Tweed, Hadley & McCloy.
She left to devote herself to raising her family and during this period of her life she volunteered for Safe Horizon, the largest victim services nonprofit organization in the United States.
She returned to work as office manager and personal assistant for a small matrimonial and family law firm in Brooklyn where Mary ensured the smooth operation of the firm with her efficient handling of client inquiries, consultations, and timely access to lawyers as required. Mary also provided support to the lawyers in fulfilling their ongoing professional development, training, workshops and seminar presentations.
Mary is a licensed New York State Notary Public.
When not working, Mary has a passion for getting lost in history, archaeology and genealogy as well as traveling and immersing herself in other cultures with her husband, son, daughters and two fur babies, Max and Daisy.
